SMS Messaging Terms

Last updated: April 29, 2026

These terms govern the SMS (text message) program operated by SAFE918 under our A2P 10DLC registered campaign with The Campaign Registry (TCR). By providing your mobile phone number and granting consent, you agree to these terms in addition to our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Program description

SAFE918 sends transactional SMS related to a request you made or an item we are sending you. Typical messages include: confirmation that we received your request, notice that an item has shipped or is en route, a tracking link, a delivery confirmation, an ETA when a volunteer is on the way to a meetup, and (where you opted in) a check-in from a peer recovery worker.

We do not send promotional, marketing, fundraising, or recurring messages of any kind. There is no subscription. Each request you make starts and ends its own short message thread.

For privacy reasons, packages we mail and emails we send go out under the name 918 Resources, and tracking links in our SMS may point to track.918resources.org. 918 Resources is operated by SAFE918. SMS itself is always sent under the SAFE918 brand that you opted in to, and these terms apply to every message we send regardless of which brand the link or package references.

How to opt in

Opt-in happens when you submit a request through our chat at safe918.com or by emailing us, and you provide a mobile phone number with explicit consent to be texted about that request. Before we send any SMS, you will see this disclosure on the form or in the chat:

By providing your phone number and tapping “Continue,” you consent to receive transactional SMS from SAFE918 about this request. Message and data rates may apply. Up to 4 messages per request. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our SMS Terms and Privacy Policy.

We retain a record of the consent shown to you, the timestamp, your IP address, the browser identifier, the registered campaign identifier, and the phone number authorized, per CTIA Messaging Principles & Best Practices §5.1.2.

Frequency

Up to 4 messages per request. A typical request results in 1–3 messages. We do not send recurring or scheduled messages outside the scope of an active request.

Sample messages

SAFE918: We received your request. We'll text when it ships. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
SAFE918: Your kit has shipped. Track: track.918resources.org/track/abc123 Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
SAFE918: A volunteer is on the way. ETA 15 min. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
SAFE918: Your kit was delivered. If anything's missing, reply here. STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

Costs

Message and data rates may apply. SAFE918 does not charge a fee for SMS messages, but your wireless carrier may charge you for the messages you send and receive depending on your plan. Check your plan if you are unsure.

Opt-out (STOP)

Reply STOP to any message we send to opt out of all SMS from SAFE918. You will receive one confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out, and we will not text you again unless you opt back in. We honor STOP across the recognized variants:

STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT

Opting out of SMS does not opt you out of email or postal mail related to a request you made.

Help (HELP)

Reply HELP to any message for help. You will receive a reply with our contact email and a reminder of how to opt out. Sample reply:

SAFE918: For help, email [email protected] or visit safe918.com. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg&data rates may apply.

Re-opting in

If you've previously opted out and want to start receiving messages again, submit a new request through the chat at safe918.com and provide your phone number with consent, or reply START to any number we previously messaged from. We treat re-opt-in as fresh consent and retain a separate consent record for it.

Supported carriers

Our SMS program is available to subscribers of major U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, US Cellular, MetroPCS, Boost Mobile, Cricket Wireless, Virgin Mobile, and others.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older and the authorized account holder of the wireless device on which messages will be received. You agree not to provide a mobile phone number that is not yours or that you are not authorized to provide.

Privacy

Phone numbers and consent records are handled under our Privacy Policy. We do not share phone numbers with third parties for marketing or advertising. We retain SMS consent and message records for the period required by carrier policy and applicable law (currently 4 years from the last message sent).

Changes

We update these terms when our SMS practices change. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued participation in the program after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
